If you are experiencing no sound or distorted sound from the speaker on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. Learn what to do to my fix speaker if you can't hear a person's speech clearly, if you hear crackling, if you hear static, or if you have problems with sound quality.
Make Sure Your Sound Settings Are Correct.
When using a device that has a Ring/Silent switch, shift the switch forward so that orange is no longer visible on the device's display screen. You can also check the status of Silent Mode on an iPad by swiping down from the top-right corner and selecting Control Center from the menu bar.
Make sure that Do Not Disturb is turned off by going to Settings > Focus > Do Not Disturb again.
The iPhone's ring/silent switch is located on the side.
Make Sure Your Receivers and Speakers Are Clean.
Remove any screen protectors, films, or cases that may have been installed on your device. Verify that the speaker aperture is not blocked or otherwise obstructed. Check to see that the receiver on your iPhone is not obstructed or contaminated.
If necessary, use a small, soft-bristled brush to wipe the entrance of the speaker or the receiver. Make certain that the brush is clean and dry before using it.
Examine the Sound Quality on Your Device.
Make a couple back and forth movements with the Ringer and Alerts sliders under Settings > Sounds (or Settings > Sounds & Haptics) to test them out.
If you are not hearing any sound, or if the speaker button on the Ringer and Alerts slider is darkened, it is possible that your speaker needs to be repaired. Contact Apple Support if you have a problem with your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
Make an Attempt to Contact Someone.
In the event that you hear sound, try making a phone call with your iPhone while using the speakerphone feature.
Make a FaceTime call with your iPad or iPod touch. If you're still having trouble hearing, or if you're hearing static or crackling, it's possible that your network or reception is the problem. Calling from a different place or at a later time may be more successful.
Some nations and regions may not have access to FaceTime at this time.
